Pearl of the UAE
About 40 years ago, the capital of the United Arab Emirates – Dubai was a tiny fishing village on the coast of the Persian Gulf. Today it can rightly be called the pearl of the UAE.
Thanks to the huge revenues from the sale of oil, a city of the future are built here, which is visited annually by millions of tourists from all over the world. Among its attractions is the highest skyscraper in the world – the Burj Khalifa in height of 828 meters and a bulk island off the coast in the form of a palm branch.
And recently the emir of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced his intention to build on Mars in the next 100 years a city equal to modern Chicago for 600,000 people. The project is called “Mars 2117”.
However, like all the Martian projects, this has a lot of skeptics. So far, only the US, Russia and the countries that are members of ESA can afford to prepare the Martian missions, which entails enormous financial costs and the solution of a huge number of scientific and technical problems.
In 2014, the space agency was created in the UAE. In his plans to bring to the near-Martian orbit the comic apparatus Hope (Hope) as early as 2021. Emirates do not have the necessary space infrastructure, but they have huge financial resources, which allows us to hope for success.
