Inventor and designer Lego-devices, known on the Internet under the name of “Brick Wall” (The Brick Wall), told the touching story of the creation of his new machine. All the author’s childhood, and now too, his already elderly father every Saturday and Sunday fried eggs and bacon for the whole family. It turns out 104 times a year – that would make a machine that did this simple but responsible job for it?

Said – done, although the process of developing individual nodes took many weeks of work. As a result, a semi-autonomous robot appeared, which only needs raw materials and a heated frying pan to fry eggs. With bacon, salt and pepper – the machine breaks eggs, puts food in a frying pan, uses a salt shaker and pepper, shifts the prepared food to a plate. Not as fast as a living person, but no less effectively.

The most difficult was to debug the mechanism breaking eggs – it took more than a week of work. It was necessary to solve the task of keeping the shell in the manipulator after it was broken and the egg leaked out. The brick wall brags that during the experiments the robot missed and shook the shell into the frying pan only 11 times. The secret is in small metal blades on the manipulator, which are almost not visible from the side.

Since Lego-cooks can be seriously used for cooking, not just games, the author has taken care of improving his performance. For example, most parts are covered with a transparent tape, which simplifies their washing and disinfection. And the robot managed to teach not just one, but two kinds of fried eggs!
