There is a question: is it right to eat the same thing every day
Scrambled eggs with tomatoes for breakfast, a handful of nuts and yogurt as a snack, vegetable soup and chicken cutlet with lentils for dinner, and then a little fish and a green salad for dinner – sounds great, does not it? And, with emphasis on any syllable. But will it all seem attractive to you, if you eat the same thing every day for weeks, maybe months? Not considering the fact that a monotonous diet can be banally annoyed, we decided to find out how useful this approach to nutrition is.
Nutritionists say that at first the scheme may seem ideal: you no longer need to calculate calories, take care of BJU, waste time choosing dishes and generally worry about anything related to the menu. Of course, you certainly know that breakfast, lunch and dinner are in accordance with the PP principles more than Kim Kardashian’s figure “hourglass”. But, alas, a boring healthy diet can complicate weight loss, if this is the goal you set.
As Prevention reports, a variety of foods play an important role in the formation of bacterial diversity in our intestines. And this variety, studies show, can be the key to progressive weight loss at the beginning of the journey and weight retention when you reach the ideal, in your opinion, figures on the scales. Other studies, in turn, suggest that the more different bacteria in our intestines, the lower the risk of diabetes and all kinds of inflammatory processes.
“It seems that every type of food has a bacterial” expert “that our intestines need. Therefore, probably the best diet is the opportunity to eat everything, but little by little, “says Mark Heiman, a research fellow at Microbiome Therapeutics.
Remember that in the animal world the strongest survive? It turns out that this applies not only to animals in the conditioned jungle, but also to the bacteria inside our body. So, if we eat eggs and spinach every day, but we never eat oatmeal and, for example, blueberries, the number of bacteria that work with oatmeal, but do not work with eggs, will shrink more and more. In the end, as it is logical to assume, there will be too few of them to provide us with at least some bonuses.
“This is bad news, because different types of bacteria solve different problems in our body. And while some are responsible for controlling hunger and satiety, others monitor the level of sugar in the blood and respond to inflammation, “explains Heyman.
Experts are still trying to understand how different strains of intestinal bacteria affect our health. Nevertheless, it is already clear now that a person only benefits from a variety in food. In addition to creating the right bacterial environment in the intestine, it allows you to get a wider range of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, which is also very, very useful.
However, in practice the simplification of the approach to the diet, taking into account the bacterial and nutritional component is realized quite easily. See for yourself: it is enough to change the composition of fruits and vegetables in the morning smoothies, alternate chicken and turkey (as well as lentils and kinoa), and broccoli for dinner should be replaced with Brussels or cauliflower. The products, of course, are random, but the principle is sure you understand.
Mark Heyman adds that sometimes you really have to allow yourself more than it seems. What is it about? Of course, about carbohydrates. “If you give up carbohydrate food, the bacteria that specialize in them will be at a disadvantage, while the guys who handle the protein, on the other hand, will be too much,” he says. Watch out for the diversity of your microbial ecosystem, and it will answer you the same. Pizza for breakfast? Why not, actually.
