Surefly passenger drones successfully completed the first flight
The company Workhorse for the first time presented its version of the unmanned Surefly taxi at the Paris air show in June last year. And now, just a year later, his first flight with a passenger on board took place.
The company has already gained fame by developing a whole line of electric vehicles – pickups, trucks and special vans, from the roof of which the launch of unmanned vehicles.
One of the features of the Surefly passenger drone is the ability to work using a combination of diesel and electricity to power eight engines rotating in opposite directions, which allows you to carry a useful cargo weighing 180 kg for a distance of up to 110 km.
To understand the advantages of a flying taxi, you need to imagine a huge traffic jam in a busy metropolis.
In January, Surefly received a certificate of airworthiness from the Federal Aviation Administration (US Federal Aviation Administration), which allowed the developers to conduct test flights over the US territory. Unfortunately, the first demonstration flight within the CES exhibition did not take place due to difficult weather conditions.
