Strathclyde University Affiliated Researchers and External Associates : Professor Liesch researches the processes and nature of the internationalisation of the firm, each huge and tiny firms. He also investigates the nature of international company operations abroad, from export via to wholly-owned subsidiaries. The manner in which interfirm and intrafirm exchange is undertaken via these international operations is element of his study.
Peter Liesch is Professor of International Company and Leader of the Enterprise and International Enterprise Cluster. He joined The University of Queensland in 1999 right after numerous years at The University of Tasmania where he was Professor of Management in International Company and Head of the School of Management. At The University of Queensland, he has served as Head of the earlier, pre-merger College of Management and Director of the MBA System.
Strathclyde University Affiliated Researchers and External Associates : His Ph.D in Economics, written on the topic of government mandated-countertrade, was awarded by The University of Queensland. He has a book by this title. He has published many book chapters, and extensively in the academic journals which consist of: Journal of International Enterprise Studies, Journal of Operations Management, Journal of Globe Company, Journal of Company Analysis, Journal of Management Studies, Management International Assessment, International Journal of Human Resource Management, International Journal of Technologies Management, Prometheus, Industrial Advertising Management, European Journal of Advertising and marketing, International Journal of Innovation Management, International Marketing Assessment and other individuals. Professor Liesch serves on the Editorial Boards of the Journal of International Organization Studies and the Journal of International Management.
He is a Skilled Member of the Economic Society of Australia (Qld. Inc) and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management. His principal investigation interests consist of: internationalisation of the firm (particularly the smaller sized firm), option systems of inter-firm exchange, and international enterprise operations in their diversity, each their methods and organisational forms. He has interests in investigation methodology. Professor Liesch is a CI on a existing ARC Discovery Grant researching the early and speedy internationalisation of the firm, the so-called born global phenomenon. Professor Liesch has served on several university committees, and is a current member of The University of Queensland Standing Committee of its Academic Board.
