In Irkutsk, a baby who was not treated for HIV died
In February 2018, an infant died in Irkutsk, whose mother did not treat him for HIV infection. The girl was only five months old. Her mother did not go to therapy herself and did not contact the doctors about the child’s illness. The death of the baby was recorded in the City Ivano-Maternal Children’s Clinical Hospital, according to preliminary data, the cause of death was pneumocystis pneumonia . The child’s lungs completely stopped working. The doctors came to this conclusion as a result of a consultation, which was also attended by the mother of the deceased girl, allegedly a member of the HIV-dissidents movement – groups of people who believe that the human immunodeficiency virus as a disease does not exist.
Currently, investigative measures are being carried out, the mother of the child became a figurant of the criminal case under the article “Causing death by negligence”. The final decision on the case will be published after the completion of all forensic medical examinations, including a histological examination, after which the investigation will establish the exact cause of the child’s death. This is not the first time that children die because their parents deny the existence of the human immunodeficiency virus. For example, this situation was already observed in Tyumen in April 2017, and in Samara (also in 2017) the court forced the child to treat the parents .
