In Canada, a homeopath treated a child with the saliva of a rabid dog
Homeopath and Naturopath Anke Zimmermann (Anke Zimmermann), a resident of Canada, has posted on her blog a record with a story about one of her patients. The four-year-old boy behaved aggressively towards others, howled at others, at night could not sleep, because he was afraid of zombies and werewolves. The homeopath decided that his behavior resembled the behavior of a rabid dog and, in accordance with the principle of homeopathy, “like treated like” offered the parents of a small patient “treatment” in the form of a lissinum hydrophobinum, a homeopathic drug whose main component is the saliva of a rabid animal. This drug is approved for use in Canada. Anke Zimmermann believed that the child’s condition could be explained by the fact that he was once bitten by a dog. This, in the opinion of the naturopath, caused the later changes in the state of the child. Treatment, according to the patient’s mother, to some extent helped, although the manifestations did not completely disappear.
Employees of the local Ministry of Health and researchers questioned the effectiveness of the procedure, which the homeopath spoke about. They stressed that the child could have had behavioral problems that could not be solved with the help of a rabid animal saliva, in addition, this saliva can be just dangerous to use, since it can cause a serious infection. To this Anke Zimmermann objected that the device contains such a small amount of saliva that there simply can not be any viruses. Experts called this opinion a scientific absurdity and stressed that if homeopathy treats real diseases, such as rabies, the result can be fatal for the patient. It is not yet known how the events developed further and how the child feels.
