A College Education Is Worth It, Say 90% Of Current Grads

tags According to a new survey, 90% of young alumni feel optimistic about their education encounter and consider that a college education is worth the investment. The American Council on Education, the organization which commissioned the survey, asked young college-alumni queries about their education experience and their general satisfaction. Hundreds of alumni from twenty-two participating two and four-year colleges and universities in between the ages of 25 to 39 were chosen randomly to participate in the poll.

Considering the rising expense of tuition expenditures and the years it traditionally takes to pay back student loans, researchers discovered the overwhelmingly optimistic feedback from alumni surprising. Virtually 90% of respondents mentioned that, despite the monetary investment and amount of time it takes to earn a college degree, their college education was worth it. 85% stated that their college education had helped them sufficiently prepare for the job they at present held, even though 80% said, if provided the possibility they would choose the exact same undergraduate college or university once more.

Council president, Molly C. Broad, noted that not only have been the benefits surprising, but that they also highlighted the continuing worth of a college degree. Stated Broad, “for anything that requires this much time and this considerably money, it nonetheless draws a almost unanimous declaration of its value.”

The final results of the survey also provided a strong argument against state and federal officials who have supported cutting greater education funding and financial aid opportunities. And, says Kevin P. Reilly, president of the University of Wisconsin Technique, one of the participating schools, the benefits give education advocates with extra leverage in terms of influencing lawmakers to make greater education a prime priority.

Despite a harsh economic climate and much less than favorable job opportunities, the alumni response from the American Council on Education survey helps to reaffirm the value of acollege degree and shows that investing in a college education is an integral element of student accomplishment.
